Our Story
Harpli™’s curriculum was born out of necessity. Traditional harp teaching methods often lacked a clear, graduated progression for students, with pieces and books chosen randomly by teachers. This left many students frustrated as they struggled to find a sense of advancement. Unlike other instruments like piano or guitar, where a progressive curriculum exists, the harp was missing this structure. After nine years of work, Harpli™ created the first comprehensive harp curriculum, designed with input from students and professional harpists around the world.
As Harpli™ developed, it became clear that one of the biggest challenges students faced was the difficulty of practicing what they learned in lessons. Often, students would leave their lessons with instructions but struggle to remember key details when practicing at home. This led to reinforcing incorrect techniques and mistakes. To address this, Harpli™ began recording video lessons to accompany each new piece, offering students a chance to reference how a piece should look and sound. With videos to follow along with, students could practice more effectively, ensuring they were learning the correct techniques, notes, and rhythms.
To further enhance the curriculum, Harpli™ added more videos that broke down each technique and song at graduated tempos, giving students the tools to develop better habits and practice effectively. This process took four years of filming, editing, and refining to get just right.
While developing the curriculum, two other crucial elements were taking shape. First, an interactive online platform was created to host and deliver the lessons and videos. Thanks to a team of expert developers, this platform became the backbone of the Harpli™ experience. Second, the Starter Harp, the perfect instrument for beginning harpists, was crafted to ensure students had a high-quality, affordable harp to practice on.
With the curriculum, platform, and harp in place, Harpli™ went live, eager to share this accessible, structured way of learning the harp with the world.

My aim has always been to make owning a harp more attainable and learning to play the harp more accessible.

I believe in a hybrid style of learning. While yes, we use micro learning and technology to convey most of the learning, nothing replaces the necessity of having a real live harp instructor to share with you personalized feedback on your harp journey.

Creating a fun and exciting learning experience was one of our biggest goals. By combining micro learning with gamification we have crafted a unique experience where the harp learner gets rewarded with what we call Harp Cash. By rewarding the harp learning we help them develop a new positive practice habit, because the more they learn the more they earn.

One of my main roles at harpli™ is to stretch the boundary of how we can use technology to bring a unique harp learning experience and inject it right into the hands of those wanting to learn to play.
